The Internet is a computer based on global information system which is composed of many interconnected computer networks. The rapid development of this technology has greatly changed many aspects of our live. Even, nowadays, the Internet has played crucial roles in our daily life. Internet not only used for educational purposes but also for social purposes. In this essay, I will confine myself to a consideration of the Internet roles and I will also describe some positive and negative impacts of the Internet. Internet is not only used for educational purposes but also for social purposes, such as the Internet research for study, entertaiment and sharing of some information.

The first positive impact of the arrival of the Internet is that it can offer a turning point in teaching learning activities. The Internet enables learners to have access useful resources. For example, electronic books (e-books) that are furnished with science and natural resource substances and it assists students in working their school assignment. In addition, this technology enables teachers and students to participate interactively inside and outside classroom activities using online written communication, such as sending electronic mail (e-mail).

Besides as a turning point in teaching and learning activities, the Internet has also influenced our social life significantly. First, we are able to get and share lots of information much easier. For example, like anyone (who is) wanting to find the latest news, is able to search and update the headlines info by browsing an electronic newspaper. Second, internet also enables us to get some entertainment such as online news or simply online games. For instance, the Internet offers people a way to find enjoyment that they are interested in, such as downloading music and films files. However, somestimes people forget about their time management because of the games or their other hobbies when they are using the Internet.

In conclusion, the Internet contributes a lot to our knowledge. It purposes some advantages besides its disadvantages. People are responsible for minimising the potential negative effects of the Internet especially for children when they are using it. Consequently, parents should control and pay close attention to the websites their children visit.
